QoL mods (Quality of Life) add no weapons and no factions — they remove friction: extra clicks, silly pawn mistakes, unreadable interfaces. That is why most veteran players run them, even though they get far less coverage than content mods. This collection is ranked by Steam community ratings and tested on RimWorld 1.6; every mod is safe to add to an existing save.
Logistics: hauling and replacing
Pick Up And Haul — nearly 17 thousand positive Steam ratings: pawns no longer carry one item at a time but full armloads, which dramatically speeds up caravan loading, construction and battlefield cleanup. Replace Stuff teaches builders to swap construction material in place instead of demolishing and rebuilding, and Smarter Construction untangles work queues so builders stop trekking across the map.
Replace Stuff
by Uuugggg
Place buildings anywhere, on top of existing things, and the game will handle it. NOT dead for 1.6!
Smarter Construction
by Hultis
Stop your pawns from constantly building themselves into a wall or blocking something that hasn't been built yet. Great for filling sapper tunnels and rebuilding walls. Currently only affects constru
Information: an interface you can actually read
RimHUD replaces the stock character panel with a compact, information-dense one. Interaction Bubbles floats pawn speech bubbles above their heads: illness, quarrels and hunger are visible at a glance. Dubs Mint Menus reinvents the orders, plants and research menus with search, filters and previews.
RimHUD
by Jaxe
Detailed inspect-pane HUD for RimWorld pawns with warnings for critical conditions - resizable panel or dockable floating window.
Interaction Bubbles
by Jaxe

Dubs Mint Menus
by Dubwise
Dubs Mint Menus adds searchable list boxes to RimWorld: recipe and health bills, plant selection, architect and research menus, plus a floating designator wheel for big mod lists.
Common sense and colony management
Common Sense is the legendary AI fix: pawns wash hands before eating, extinguish fires nearby instead of strolling to lunch past a burning kitchen. Allow Tool adds mass selection, forbidding and priority actions in a couple of clicks — indispensable after every raid. Colony Manager Redux brings a colony manager with resource reports, hunting plans and tree felling.
Common Sense
by avil
Common Sense gives RimWorld colonists dozens of optional smart behaviours: cleaning before work, whole-stack hauling, spoilage-aware food choices and more.
Allow Tool
by Symbolic
Allow Tool speeds up RimWorld colony management: forbid and unforbid items, select similar things, urgent hauling and map-wide tool extensions. Requires HugsLib.
Colony Manager Redux
Colony Manager Redux is ilyvion's new and improved take on Fluffy's Colony Manager. Why did I make my own custom version?
QoL mods are the safest kind for saves: you can add or remove them at any time. Content mods (alien races, total conversions) do not offer that luxury.
Installation order
Every mod in this list needs the Harmony framework. Step-by-step instructions are in how to install RimWorld mods and RimWorld mod load order.
